After breakfast, you travel through the Midle Atlas Mountains, passing through many landscapes and cultures on your way to Merzouga’s desert. We go across the middle Atlas’ cedar forests, passing in Ifrane, a lovely ski resort. Azrou is a significant handicraft center that specializes in cedar woodwork. You arrive in Midelt for lunch after over the Zad pass (2,178m/7,146ft). You will travel to Erfoud via Errachidia in the afternoon. Palm trees dot the Ziz valley. Continue to Erg Chebbi’s sand dunes. On the backs of our camels, we make our way towards the tent.
The camels are hobbled and mint tea is offered upon arriving at the desert camp and your nomad tent, while an evening meal is made and served under the stars. The camel guides usually drum and sing Berber songs after dinner. Night among the sparkling sky or in the nomad tent.
Day 2: Erg Chebbi – Ziz Valley- Fez
After an early morning wake-up call to witness one of the most magnificent sunrises, we will depart for Rissani, where we will visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif (the dynasty’s founder) and take part in a local market day in Rissani to see the traditional souks and Erfoud to visit the marble treatment plant before continuing to the Ziz valley dotted with palm trees. In the afternoon, you’ll travel to Fez via Errachidia and Midelt.
